Navajo Matriarch Passes

Suzie Yazzie at the hogan door

Suzie spinning wool from her sheep inside the hogan
Suzie spent many years working with Arizona Highways in their efforts to preserve Arizona and Navajo history.  She allowed photographers to visit her hogan deep in Monument Valley and photograph her working the wool from her sheep.  I was honored to be one of those photographers and was saddened to learn that she passed away this year at age 98.
